Spike in Cancer Cases Among Under-50s: Watch Out for These Warning Signs
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Nowadays, cases of cancer are increasing among people below the age of 50 years. Especially, a big increase is being seen in the cases of breast cancer, lymphoma and colon (intestine) cancer. Apart from this, cases of some other cancers like testicular, kidney and pancreas cancer are also increasing, but their cases are still less.
The exact reason behind these is not yet completely clear, but experts are constantly researching it. If someone experiences symptoms like prolonged fatigue, sudden weight loss, prolonged swelling, lump in any part of the body, persistent pain or bleeding, then do not ignore them, because such symptoms can be signs of cancer, so it is important to get yourself examined by a doctor on time.
Intestinal problems can be an important sign of colon cancer. When a person experiences any strange changes in his bowel or toilet habits, such as stool turning black or blood appearing in it, these can be worrying signs. Such changes should not be ignored and a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Colon cancer cases have increased in the United States and around the world over the past decade. Experts believe this increase may be related to environmental and dietary changes, although the exact cause is not yet clear.
If a person's weight suddenly starts decreasing without any reason, then it can be a matter of concern. Along with this, feeling tired or changing the sleeping pattern are also such signs which should not be ignored. These symptoms are usually not of any serious disease, but sometimes they can be signs of the onset of a disease like cancer. If you are losing weight without trying or you do not feel like eating, then you must consult a doctor.
If any new or changing thing is seen on the skin, it can be an early sign of skin cancer such as melanoma. If any stain, lump or change in color is seen on the skin, then it should not be taken lightly. It is important to see a doctor immediately for any such new or changing problem so that proper investigation can be done and treatment can be started on time.
Bleeding in the urine can also be a sign of a problem, such as kidney or bladder disease. In women, bleeding between periods or bleeding after intercourse can be a sign of cervical or endometrial cancer. If such symptoms appear, you should get yourself examined by a doctor. The good news is that cervical cancer is now less common in younger women than before.
If someone sweats a lot at night, along with fever, tremors or weakness, then this can also be a matter of concern. These symptoms may be associated with a cancer called lymphoma. This is a cancer that affects the body's immune system. If a lump or swelling is seen in the body, then a doctor should be consulted immediately.
There can be some other symptoms which point towards cancer. Like any part of the body turning blue without any reason, frequent infections or feeling very tired, these can be symptoms of leukemia (blood cancer). If there is pain in the bones or strange discomfort in the body, then it can be a sign of a cancer called sarcoma. Changes in eyesight, headache or back pain can be signs of brain or spinal cord cancer. Losing weight without trying, stomach pain, pain spreading to the back and sometimes yellowing of the skin or dark colour of urine, all these can be pancreas cancer. This disease is also increasing in people below 50 years of age. If any such symptoms are seen, then it is necessary to get it checked by a doctor.
