Harshbir & Aanya Emerge Champions at Punjab State Mini Ranking Tournament

Jalandhar(The Uttam Hindu): The three-day Indian Oil Punjab State Mini Ranking Badminton Tournament concluded in Jalandhar on Tuesday with Ludhiana players Harshbir Singh Dhillon and Aanya Tiwari emerging as champions in their respective categories. The prestigious tournament was organised by the Jalandhar Badminton Association.

A total of 250 players from 23 districts of Punjab competed in the Under-11 and Under-13 age groups with 304 matches played across eight events.In the Boys’ Under-13 Singles final, Ludhiana’s Harshbir Singh Dhillon outclassed Rabbiguel Anji in straight sets, winning 21-12, 21-7. Meanwhile, in the Girls’ Under-11 category, Aanya Tiwari showcased excellent form as she defeated Blessy of Bathinda 21-13, 21-14.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Sh. Sandeep Rishi (IAS), Commissioner, MC Jalandhar, who lauded the participants and highlighted the importance of sports in a child’s holistic development. “Sports are essential not only for physical fitness but also for mental growth. They help children stay away from excessive screen time and build discipline,” he remarked.

He also commended the Jalandhar Badminton Association for organising the tournament in an exemplary manner.The winners were felicitated with cash prizes and attractive gifts by the chief guest. Prominent office-bearers of the Punjab Badminton Association including Sh. Kavi Raj Dogra (Vice President), Sh. Ritin Khanna (Hony. Secretary), S. Jaswant Singh, Dhiraj Sharma (Joint Secretary), Kusum Kaypee and Palwinder Juneja were also present on the occasion.
