1-Year-old boy dies in matchstick fire accident, consumed by flames in mere moments
Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): A heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday in the Bhamia area of Ludhiana, Punjab. One-year-old Arjun died after being burned in a fire that broke out while playing with matches at home.
According to information, Arjun's parents had a fight over something on Friday night. The atmosphere remained tense on Saturday morning as well. Arjun's mother, Reena Devi, said that her husband left the house in the morning without eating. She went to the factory to convince him and give him food. Meanwhile, some of the other eight children present in the house were playing with matches. While playing, a burning matchstick fell on little Arjun, who was wrapped in a blanket, and a fire broke out in no time. When Reena Devi was returning home, she saw smoke and flames rising from her house from a distance. She ran to the house and saw that Arjun was seriously burnt.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, Arjun's father immediately rushed home and took the child to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, where doctors declared him dead. The father stated that the children were playing with matches at home when the tragic accident occurred. The entire neighborhood is in mourning after the incident. Local residents consoled the family and urged them to take precautions regarding the safety of their children. The administration has also urged people to keep items like matches, lamps, and gas lighters out of the reach of young children to prevent a similar tragedy.
