5 kg heroin, ₹29 lakh cash recovered in Ferozepur; two arrested

Ferozepur (The Uttam Hindu) - In a major breakthrough against cross-border drug smuggling, Ferozepur police in Punjab on Wednesday recovered 5.150 kg of heroin and Rs 29,16,700. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said two key handlers, Sajan son of Ramesh and Resham son of Younis, linked to a notorious Pakistan-based smuggler, have been arrested.
They were handling large quantities of heroin consignments and hawala transactions in Ferozepur and surrounding areas. He said an FIR has been registered in this regard under the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway to unearth the syndicate's forward and backward links.
