71-year-old NRI woman murdered in Punjab, body burnt with charcoal and bones dumped in drain
Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case has come to light from Kila Raipur area of Dehlon village, where a 71-year-old NRI woman, Rupinder Kaur Pandher was brutally murdered after being lured from America on the promise of marriage.
According to police investigation, Rupinder Kaur, who was twice divorced had befriended Charanjit Singh, a resident of Britain. Charanjit had promised to marry her but when Rupinder began pressuring him to fulfill his commitment he allegedly conspired to eliminate her.
Charanjit connected Rupinder with Sukhjeet Singh alias Sonu, a typist at the local court and also arranged for money transfers from abroad. When Rupinder threatened to file cases of rape and fraud, Charanjit assured Sukhjeet that if he killed her, he would be rewarded with five million rupees and help him settle overseas.
On July 12, Rupinder Kaur arrived in Ludhiana and stayed at Sukhjeet’s residence. That very night, she was beaten to death with a baseball bat. Her body was then placed on burning coals until only skeletal remains were left and her bones were thrown into a nearby drain to destroy evidence.
Police have arrested the accused Sukhjeet Singh and booked Charanjit Singh, the alleged mastermind living in Britain on charges of conspiracy and murder. The investigation has revealed chilling details of betrayal, greed and brutality behind the crime.
