Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State General Secretary Deepak Bali launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party, saying that by including Jagdish Tytler, the prime accused in the 1984 Sikh genocide, in an event held under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi on the sacred occasion of Independence Day, the Congress has proven that it has no respect for the sentiments of the Sikh community which made supreme sacrifices for the nation.

Issuing a statement, Deepak Bali said that yesterday, while the entire nation celebrated Independence Day, the Congress celebrated the day by rubbing salt on the wounds of the Sikh community. The presence of Jagdish Tytler with Rahul Gandhi has shamed every person who believes in humanity.

He said that Jagdish Tytler is a person accused of the horrific massacre, crimes against humanity, and heinous crimes of targeting Sikhs on the basis of religion and violating the honours of Sikh daughters and sisters. Bali said that the person who put tyres around the necks of innocent Sikhs and burnt them alive is considered a matter of pride by the Congress. This has already been proven in the courts, and everyone is aware of this truth.

Raising questions on the leadership of the Congress, Deepak Bali said that Sikhs, who fought against the Mughals, suffered sentences of Kala Pani for India’s freedom, and made the greatest contribution to independence, what message does the Congress want to send by keeping the killer of that very community in its fold? Rahul Gandhi and all Congress leaders of Punjab must clarify what their stand is regarding Jagdish Tytler. Do they consider Tytler to be their great leader, their hero, or their role model?

AAP leader Deepak Bali warned the Congress that if Tytler’s presence was unintentional, then the Congress Party must immediately apologize to the entire Sikh community and the nation. He said that if Congress accepts this and continues to defend Tytler, then it has no moral right to seek votes from the people of Punjab, especially the Sikh community. Punjabis demand an answer from the central and state leadership of the Congress on this issue, and they must clarify their position.
