NEW DELHI / PUNJAB (The Uttam Hindu): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Punjab Government has set a clear benchmark on accountability by ordering the arrest of its own minister Laljit Bhullar following serious allegations, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Acting swiftly, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had earlier sought Laljit Bhullar’s resignation and subsequently directed the police to take legal action, underlining that no individual is above the law.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal lauded this decisive step, stating that when it comes to justice, AAP does not hesitate to act even against its own, while pointing out that the BJP chooses to shield its own leaders even in the face of grave allegations, as seen in the case following the suicide of an ADGP in Haryana.

Taking to X, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the stark difference in political approach, stating, “Recently, serious allegations were made against a minister in the AAP government in Punjab. Our government, without any delay or bias, took immediate action against that minister, not only removing him from his post but also ensuring his arrest.”

The AAP Chief pointed out, “Some time ago, an ADGP in Haryana died by suicide. Serious allegations were made against several individuals, but the entire party and the government there came out in support of the accused. This is the difference between the AAP and the BJP. When it comes to justice, the AAP does not hesitate to take action even against a minister in its own government, whereas the BJP sacrifices justice to protect its own.”

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated the government’s uncompromising stance, saying, “The Aam Aadmi Party has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. If even our own minister is involved in such acts, action will be taken against him as well. This is not our first case; even earlier in Delhi, our party has taken such strict action. If someone has done wrong and forced another person to take their life, it is a matter of investigation. Whether it is our minister or any official, the law is the same for everyone, and the law is taking its course.”

Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann further stated on X, “For me, the entire Punjab is one family. If anyone breaks the law in Punjab, strict action will be taken against them, whether they are a relative, an influential person, or hold any position. Our party will not provide protection to anyone. Corruption and bribery will not be tolerated at any cost.”
