Amritsar and Moga schools receive bomb threats, police launch search operation
Amritsar/Moga (The Uttam Hindu): Wednesday was a day of great terror for security agencies and the general public in Punjab. After the court complexes in Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib, bomb threats have now been received targeting schools in Amritsar and Moga. These threats, received in different parts of the state in a single day, have created panic within the police administration and the education department. Following the threats, schools have been closed as a precautionary measure, and a search operation is underway.
Amritsar: 10 schools threatened with the condition of singing 'Deh Shiva' instead of the national anthem
Around 8 to 10 government and private schools in Amritsar have received threatening emails. The email received by the Government High School in Mehrbanpura village of Jandiala Guru made extremely objectionable and bizarre demands. The sender wrote that the National Anthem should be immediately stopped in the school and the words "Deh Shiva Bar Mohe" should be recited instead. The email warned of a blast at 2:11 pm. The prominent schools that received the emails include Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, School of Eminence (Mall Road), Government Senior Secondary School Manawala, Jhita Kalan, and Tahli Sahib. The police cyber cell team is working to trace the IP address.
Moga: School evacuated, police take charge
Panic gripped Amritsar and Moga after an email threatening to bomb the city's New D.N. Model School (No. 9) was received. The school administration immediately informed the police and, for the safety of the children, declared a holiday. All the children have been safely sent home. A large police force arrived at the scene and cordoned off the entire school campus. A thorough search is currently underway with the help of a dog squad and a bomb disposal squad.
Conspiracy signals in several cities on the same day
It is noteworthy that earlier this morning, courts in Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib also received bomb threats. Subsequently, schools were targeted. Following the simultaneous threats to educational institutions and courts in several cities, the Punjab Police have issued a statewide alert. Police are investigating whether a single gang or miscreant is behind all these threats.
