Punjab Police Thwart Terror Conspiracy: IED seized in Tarn Taran ahead of Independence Day

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Big news is coming from Tarn Taran, Punjab. The news is that Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab has successfully foiled a major terrorist plot hatched by Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) member Harvinder Rinda and Pakistan's ISI-backed terrorist Lakhbir alias Landa.

A plan was being made to carry out a blast in Punjab before Independence Day. Based on credible human intelligence, the AGTF in collaboration with Tarn Taran Police launched a search operation and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Tarn Taran before Harvinder alias Rinda's accomplices could reach him.

The IED was carefully moved to a safe location for controlled explosion. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called to the spot to defuse the IED and it was later destroyed through joint efforts. An FIR has been registered under the Explosives Act at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran. DGP Gaurav Yadav has said that he is fully committed to rooting out organised criminal and terror networks and ensuring the safety of the citizens of the state.
