Bomb threat at Punjab Legislative Assembly as budget set to be presented today

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Finance Minister Harpal Cheema will present the budget in the Punjab Assembly today. Meanwhile, news is emerging that a threatening email has been received, threatening to bomb the Assembly at 1:11 pm today. Security agencies are currently on high alert and the entire complex is being searched.

The email, sent in the name of Gurnakh Singh, an engineer from Rukn Shahwala, claims that the attack could be carried out using an IED-laden car or a drone. The email mentions Punjab's political leadership and international issues, while also naming the "Khalistan National Army." Police and intelligence agencies are working to trace the IP address of the email and the location of the sender.

Security has been tightened in the Assembly complex and surrounding areas on the day of the budget presentation. Officials say the matter is being investigated seriously and no laxity will be allowed in security.
