Brutal daylight attack on Kabaddi player : 20 minutes of beating followed by a chest shot in Punjab
Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): Kabaddi player Tejpal Singh (23) was murdered in broad daylight in Jagraon, Ludhiana district, Punjab. The incident occurred just 250 meters from the SSP office, causing panic in the area. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived in two cars, while Tejpal was alone in his car.
According to sources, the dispute began after a minor collision between two cars on the road. Meanwhile, seven or eight young men got out of both vehicles and attacked Tejpal with sticks. The attackers brutally beat him for about 20 minutes, after which, as they were leaving, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and shot him in the chest, before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed the player to the hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Tejpal Singh, a resident of Gidderwindi village.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the DSP and the City Police Station team arrived at the scene and began an investigation. SSP Ankur Gupta stated that a fight broke out between Tejpal and Honey Omi on Hari Singh Road at around 2:50 pm, during which Tejpal was shot and died. The accused, Honey Omi and Kala Omi, both residents of Romi village, are currently under investigation. Raids are underway to search for them. SSP Gupta stated that there was a long-standing rivalry between the two parties, and that fights had occurred two or three times before.
However, no formal police complaint was filed regarding those incidents. Another young man, identified as Gagan, was among the attackers and was present in the car at the time of the incident. Police have registered a murder case and begun an investigation, while the incident has sparked anger and fear among the sports community in the city
