Garhshankar (The Uttam Hindu): A sensational double murder occurred on Thursday in Moranwali village of Garhshankar, Punjab, sending terror through the area. A Canadian NRI and his female caretaker were brutally murdered with sharp weapons. The foul smell emanating from the bodies raises suspicions that the murders occurred a few days ago.

The deceased were identified as the homeowner, Santokh Singh (65), who had returned from Canada a few months earlier, and the caretaker, Manjit Kaur (46), both residents of village Bath (Nurmahal). The incident came to light on Thursday morning when Manjit Kaur's daughters found the house locked from outside. When their phone rang and they climbed over the wall to enter, they were shocked. Inside, lay the bodies of Santokh Singh and his mother, Manjit Kaur, covered in blood, bearing deep marks from sharp-edged weapons.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar, DSP Garhshankar Jaspreet Singh, and SHO Gagandeep Singh Sekhon arrived at the scene with a heavy police force. Police have taken both bodies into custody and launched an investigation. Initial investigations suggest the case may have been a result of an old rivalry or a murder committed with the intent to rob. Police officials say they are investigating the case from all angles and will soon arrest the accused.
