CBI expands probe: Disproportionate Assets Case filed against Ex-Punjab DIG Bhullar amid ongoing bribery investigation
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The troubles of former Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, embroiled in a bribery case, appear to be continuing. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a new case of disproportionate assets against Bhullar.
Bhullar was arrested by the CBI on October 16 this month in a bribery case. He has been lodged in Chandigarh's Burail jail since his arrest.
Another major development has occurred in this case. The CBI has taken Krishanu, the middleman in the case, on remand for nine days for the first time. This remand comes just two days before Bhullar's 14-day judicial custody ends. Bhullar is scheduled to appear in court on October 31st, where this new case could further complicate his efforts.
