Patiala(The Uttam Hindu): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the residence of Bhupinder Singh, owner of BH Properties, in Patiala, Punjab, today, in connection with the ongoing probe against suspended Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar.

The CBI team arrived at Singh's Moti Bagh residence around 7:30 am and carried out a thorough search operation, restricting entry and exit from the property. Sources indicate that BH Properties' name surfaced during Bhullar's interrogation and from documents recovered by investigators.

Bhupinder Singh, a prominent real estate dealer with projects in Patiala and Mohali, is reportedly well-connected with top leaders, officers, and policemen in the region.

This development follows Bhullar's arrest on October 16 in an Rs 8-lakh bribery case, with subsequent searches yielding Rs 7.5 crore, 2.5 kg of gold jewelry, 26 luxury watches, two high-end cars, 100 liters of alcohol and documents related to 50 immovable assets.

Separately, CBI teams also raided home of another property dealer in Sargodha Colony on Pakhowal Road in Ludhiana. Residents reported that the CBI team entered the home at 7:00 a.m., and the house has been sealed since then. No one is being allowed in or out.

Former DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar is currently in CBI custody until November 5th. The agency took him into custody just three days ago. The CBI has also detained a middleman linked to the case.

It is being told that the investigating agency had interrogated Bhullar and the middleman face to face, and on the basis of the information received from this, this major action has been taken today.

The CBI is now investigating where and through whom Bhullar invested the crores of rupees he received as bribes. The agency is trying to ensure that no aspect of the case remains undisclosed when the charge sheet is presented in court.

According to sources, after many years, Chandigarh CBI has arrested such a senior IPS officer at this level, hence the agency is busy in making this case completely strong from every angle.
