Fatehgarh Sahib (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday attended the annual Shaheedi Sabha dedicated to Mata Gujri and the younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the entire world today pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the young princes of Fatehgarh Sahib. He added that there is no parallel to this sacrifice anywhere in history and stressed the need to pass this story on to future generations so they understand the sacrifices made to protect faith and values.
The annual Shaheedi Sabha in memory of Mata Gujri and the younger Sahibzadas began on Thursday at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. This historic site is where Mata Gujri and the Sahibzadas were cremated. The sacred land holds a special place in Sikh history due to its deep association with sacrifice and martyrdom.
The land of Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib is also referred to as one of the most valuable pieces of land in the world. According to Sikh tradition, Diwan Todar Mal had spread gold coins to purchase this land so that the last rites of Mata Gujri and the Sahibzadas could be performed with full honour. This episode continues to stand as a timeless symbol of devotion, sacrifice and faith for the Sikh community.
