Hoshiarpur 5-Year-Old Rape Murder Case Reaches High Court with Demand for Fast Track Justice
Punjab (The Uttam Hindu): The shocking Hoshiarpur rape-murder case involving a 5-year-old child has now reached the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Advocate Dr. Gaurav Arora has filed a petition urging the court to ensure speedy justice and impose the harshest punishment. The public has raised demands for fast-track court proceedings and the death penalty for the accused.
The petition states that such heinous crimes have become a challenge for society. In such cases, only swift hearings and strict punishment can serve as a deterrent for criminals. It is worth mentioning that last week, a migrant labour committed brutality against the child and then murdered him. Since the incident, tension has spread in the area, and anger has erupted among the people.
The parents of the victim have demanded that the accused be publicly hanged. Following the crime, large-scale protests for justice were held in several districts of Punjab. During these demonstrations, slogans like “Expel migrants, save Punjab” were raised, intensifying the Punjabi versus migrant divide. Several Nihang organizations also supported the movement.
Amid growing pressure on the state government and police administration, the public has raised demands quick disposal of the case. People argue that “justice delayed is justice denied”. After the case has reached the Punjab & Haryana High Court, all eyes are on the court’s verdict.
