CM Bhagwant Mann's Big Gift to Dhuri: ₹54.76 Crore Railway Overbridge Announced

Dhuri(The Uttam Hindu): To address the issue of traffic congestion in his constituency of Dhuri, the Bhagwant Mann government has taken a significant and decisive step. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given the green light for the construction of a railway overbridge in Dhuri, to be built at a cost of ₹54.76 crore. Fully funded by the Punjab government, this project will serve as a permanent solution to Dhuri’s traffic problems and open new avenues of convenience for local residents.

The overbridge will be constructed as a two-lane structure at level crossing number 62A. Its construction is expected to begin in March 2025, as soon as the final approval (Railway NOC) is obtained. Continuous coordination is underway with the railway headquarters at Baroda House, Delhi, and the process is currently awaiting final clearance.

Modern Overbridge for Dhuri Residents, Construction to Be Completed on Time

The construction period for this overbridge is set at 18 months, starting from the date of receiving the Railway NOC. After the project commences, the Punjab government will deposit 2% of the railway’s share of the cost, approximately ₹12 lakh, as a supervision fee to the railways.

Processes related to utility transfers, forest clearance, and the NOC from the irrigation department are already in advanced stages. Although the construction could not begin over the past year due to delays in railway approvals, there has now been significant progress in this direction.

CM Bhagwant Mann Assures Major Relief for Dhuri Residents

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the construction of this railway overbridge will improve the traffic management system in Dhuri. Residents will be able to travel without interruptions, and the internal traffic pressure within the city will be reduced.

He also highlighted that the project includes not only the bridge over the railway tracks but also the construction of connecting roads. The entire cost of the project will be borne by the Punjab government. According to him, this initiative will prove to be a major boon for the people of Dhuri.
