Amritsar DM suicide case: FIR filed against Laljit Singh Bhullar, father and aide
FIR filed against former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and others as wife alleges threats from gangsters.
Amritsar/Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): In the suicide case of Warehouse DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, police have registered an FIR against former Punjab minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Bhullar, and his personal assistant Dilbag Singh. The case was filed at Ranjit Avenue police station based on a complaint by the deceased’s wife Upinder Kaur.
The accused have been booked under charges including abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation. In her statement, the wife alleged that Bhullar had threatened the family, claiming he had links with gangsters and warning of serious consequences if his demands were not followed. She said these threats deeply affected her husband, who later took his own life.
The incident occurred on March 21 and has triggered strong political reactions. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sought Bhullar’s resignation after the case came to light. Following pressure from the victim’s family and opposition parties, police registered the FIR. Political parties have announced protests in Chandigarh, while security has been tightened amid rising tensions.
