Firing on AAP Leader Was a Cowardly Act by Drug Smugglers and Gangsters: Baltej Pannu
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and General Secretary Baltej Pannu today visited AAP leader Raju at his residence in Phagwara, where unidentified assailants fired shots at him last night.
Speaking to the media after meeting the AAP leader, Pannu described the firing incident as a cowardly act carried out by drug smugglers and gangsters who are rattled by the AAP Government’s determined mission to make Punjab drug-free. He clarified that AAP leader Raju is an active member of the anti-drug campaign and is not someone who can be intimidated by such incidents.
Pannu said that this shooting is the result of frustration among drug smugglers who are unable to tolerate the strict actions of the AAP Government. “Their intention is to scare our workers, but we want to make it clear that if you try to intimidate us, we will eliminate gangsters from Punjab with double strength and double speed,” he said. He reiterated that making Punjab drug-free is the top priority of the AAP Government.
He added that Chief Minister Mann has clearly instructed those involved in criminal activities to either surrender or leave Punjab. Today, Punjab is in safe hands under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the AAP Government.
Meanwhile, MLA and Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that neither do we provide political protection to gangsters, nor do we give tickets to their families. The Mann Government is running a transparent and clean administration, and there is absolutely no place for gangsterism. He stated that the police are investigating the matter, and the investigation report will be made public soon.
Issuing a warning to gangsters, he said that the AAP Government will not back down from its fight against drugs and gangsters. “This battle is essential to protect the next generation of Punjab,” he added.
