Former Akali Minister Bikram Majithia Held by Vigilance Team in Amritsar, Shifted to Mohali Headquarters
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia was taken into custody by the Vigilance team from his Amritsar residence and is being shifted to Mohali for further questioning. A 15-member team, led by Vigilance SSP Lakhbir Singh, conducted the early morning raid at his Green Avenue house in connection with a drug-related investigation. Majithia released a video of the encounter, showing a heated exchange with officers and alleging illegal entry, lack of uniform, and manhandling of his wife.
During the confrontation, Majithia questioned the officers’ authority, demanded identification, and accused the team of acting under political pressure. He stated that the government was preparing to file a new false case after failing to prove anything in the earlier one. Majithia maintained that he will not be silenced and vowed to continue raising his voice on Punjab’s issues, expressing confidence that truth would ultimately prevail.
The development comes just days after Majithia shared objectionable photos of Punjab minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on social media, accusing him of moral misconduct.
In response, the minister filed an FIR alleging that the images were edited using AI and shared maliciously, calling the act a breach of privacy and human decency. The matter has now escalated into a major political and legal standoff.
