Fortis Healthcare to invest more than Rs. 900 Crore at Mohali, Says Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): In a move to transform Punjab into vibrant, healthy, and future-ready state under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Minister Sh. Sanjeev Arora today announced that Fortis Healthcare has decided to invest more than Rs. 900 crore in Mohali to further expand its existing campus. Fortis Healthcare will boost capacity of more than 400 beds in this expansion plan and thereby creating a world-class centre of excellence.

While interacting with the media, Cabinet Minister Sh. Sanjeev Arora said that this integrated healthcare campus of Fortis Hospital Mohali will spread to more than 13.4 acre. This project will generate direct jobs of more than 2500 persons and indirect jobs of more than 2,200 persons by enhancing Punjab’s role as a hub for advanced healthcare and medical tourism.

Furthermore, he also highlighted that the Government of Punjab is focusing on strengthening public-private healthcare for Sehatmand, Rangla Punjab. In this regard, Sh. Sanjeev Arora today welcomed Fortis Healthcare’s continued investments and expansion plan in the State, underscoring Punjab’s emergence as a centre of medical excellence.

Sharing more details, he added that with these developments, the Punjab cluster will cross 1,000 beds, supported by more than Rs. 2,500 crore cumulative investment, with more planned in the future. This reflects Punjab’s strength as one of the largest and most strategically important healthcare hubs in North India.

He said that Fortis has already invested more than Rs. 1,500 crore in Punjab, building a strong network of world-class hospitals. In their investment in Mohali, Fortis is already providing the facility of 375 beds including 194 ICU beds across 40 specialities and regional leader in cardiac sciences, oncology, organ transplants, robotic surgery, and critical care. Fortis Hospital at Ludhiana has a 259-beds facility (since 2013) and a new 70-bed facility launched in 2023 with super-speciality clinics in breast health, diabetes, and spine care.

Similarly, Fortis Escorts Hospital at Amritsar has a 173-bed facility on a 4.5-acre campus serving Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Shrimann Super speciality- a 300 bed Hospital at Jalandhar where Fortis has acquired an additional 2.5 acres for future expansion.

Moreover, Sh. Sanjeev Arora revealed that the Government of Punjab is building a strong foundation for Rangla Punjab and Sehatmand Punjab. The Government of Punjab is also ensuring universal health coverage and strengthening public infrastructure. Fortis Healthcare’s expansion plan is highlighting the growing trust of private players in the State’s healthcare ecosystem. Together, these initiatives will deliver world-class healthcare, create thousands of jobs, and place Punjab firmly on the map of advanced healthcare and medical tourism.
