Gang clash at Ludhiana’s Bath Castle Palace: gunfire before bride’s entrance kills groom’s friend and aunt
Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu) : Chaos erupted during a wedding ceremony at Bath Castle Palace on Pakhowal Road in Ludhiana. According to reports, a face-to-face gang war broke out between two gangster groups—the Shubham Mota Group and the Ankur Group. Both sides exchanged heavy fire, reportedly totaling approximately 40-50 rounds.
Two people, including a woman, were killed during the firing, while around 8-9 others were reportedly injured. A young man named Vasu, one of the injured, was taken to DMC Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased woman has been identified as Neeru Chhabra. According to sources, the wedding was being held for contractor Varinder Kapoor. Several prominent city dignitaries were present at the event. It is reported that an AAP MLA was also present at the time of the gang war, and his security team safely evacuated him.
According to eyewitnesses, Ankur's group was already present at the event with their associates. As soon as Shubham Mota arrived at the pandal with his group, the two groups clashed, and gunfire erupted. Several people trying to mediate a compromise were also injured in the exchange of fire.
The sudden gunfire caused a stampede at the wedding ceremony. The wedding party began fleeing, and many people took cover under chairs and tables. Police from Sadar police station and senior officers arrived at the scene upon receiving the information. Police recovered several empty cartridges from the scene and are examining CCTV footage.
