Income Tax Raid at Punjab Congress Leader and Former MLA’s Residence, Teams Conduct Searches at 12 Locations
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Income Tax Department teams carried out raids at the residence of Punjab Congress leader and businessman Raminder Awla. According to information, officials reached around 12 locations, including his house in Guruharsahai, to conduct searches and verification. The teams are examining business records and seeking details related to income and financial transactions.
Sources said that Income Tax officials arrived at the Guruharsahai residence early in the morning around 6 am and the search operation has been ongoing since then. Raminder Awla was reportedly not present at his residence at the time of the raid, and officials are questioning his relatives during the investigation.
Raminder Singh Awla had earlier won the Jalalabad Assembly seat in the 2019 by-election, which was held after Sukhbir Singh Badal was elected as a Member of Parliament, leading to the vacancy. However, Awla lost the Assembly election held in 2022. Further details regarding the Income Tax action are awaited.
