Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu) — A young man was murdered in a violent late-night attack in Nandarpur, Jalandhar, after being assaulted with sharp-edged weapons and gunfire. The incident took place around 1 a.m., claiming the life of Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi, who had been living in Gali No. 3, Ashok Nagar, Nandarpur, for the past three months.

According to police, the murder stemmed from a dispute during a recent religious event, when Gopi reportedly warned some youths not to bring weapons to his house. Enraged, the accused arrived in two cars late at night and attacked him. They struck Gopi on the head with sharp weapons and opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot.

Two women and one man were also injured in the attack, while several others sustained pellet injuries from gunfire. The attackers fled immediately after the assault. Police from Thana No. 1 rushed to the scene, reviewed CCTV footage, and launched a manhunt for the suspects. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further tension. Initial investigations point to an old rivalry and the earlier altercation as the likely motive. A case has been registered, and raids are underway to apprehend the accused.
