Sad Day for Punjab Cinema: Legendary Comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Passes Away at 65
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A wave of grief has engulfed the Punjabi film industry with the passing of its most beloved comedian, Jaswinder Bhalla. The 65-year-old actor and comedian breathed his last today morning. His funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at Balongi cremation ground in Mohali.
Jaswinder Bhalla was a household name in Punjabi cinema, known for his impeccable comic timing and iconic roles in films and comedy series. He began his career in 1988 with the comedy show “Chhankarta 88” and made his film debut with “Dulla Bhatti.” Over the years, he won hearts with his humor-filled performances in numerous Punjabi films and his popular Chhankarta comedy series.
Born on 4 May 1960 in Ludhiana, Bhalla was the son of Master Bahadur Singh Bhalla, a primary school teacher. He completed his early education at Senior Secondary School, Doraha, and later pursued B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Punjab Agricultural University. He earned his Ph.D. from Chaudhary Charan Singh Post Graduate College, Meerut.
