'Jisda Khet, Usdi Ret' - major relief to farmers and now cheaper sand for common people: Harmeet Singh Sandhu
Tarn Taran(The Uttam Hindu): AAP candidate from Tarn Taran by-election, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, today lauded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visionary decision under the “Jisda Khet, Usdi Ret” scheme, calling it a perfect example of how the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government always takes timely, people-centric and pro-farmers decisions to support farmers and ensure relief for common citizens.
The state government’s initiative, launched just weeks ago, has already led to a 30 to 35 percent reduction in sand prices across Punjab, bringing down the cost of a key construction material while helping flood-hit farmers restore their agricultural lands.
“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann once again proved that AAP is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. When farmers’ fields were buried under sand and silt due to floods, instead of making them run from office to office, Mann Saab gave them the right to reclaim their land, ‘Jisda Khet, Usdi Ret’, without any requirement of permit or NOC. This single decision has provided both economic relief to farmers and reduced sand prices for everyone,” said Harmeet Singh Sandhu.
He added that the AAP government’s approach reflects true governance, fast, transparent, and focused on welfare. By allowing flood-hit landowners to lift sand from their own fields without bureaucratic hurdles, the government not only accelerated land restoration but also ensured an increase in the supply of sand, stabilizing prices as compared to earlier.
“Such pro-people steps are why the Aam Aadmi Party has earned the love and trust of Punjabis. Whether it’s free electricity, improved schools, better health services, or supporting farmers, every decision of Bhagwant Mann’s government has been aimed at making life easier for ordinary citizens,” Sandhu said.
Urging the people of Tarn Taran to support AAP in the upcoming by-election, Sandhu said, “A vote for AAP is a vote for honest governance and quick action. Let us strengthen Bhagwant Mann’s hands so that together we can build a stronger, self-reliant Punjab where every farmer, every worker, and every youth gets justice and opportunity.”
