Kapurthala Bank Robbery: Armed Men Flee With ₹40 Lakh From HDFC Branch
Kapurthala (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident of robbery took place at an HDFC Bank branch located on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Highway in Kapurthala, where three armed robbers looted ₹40 lakh at gunpoint, triggering panic in the area.
According to initial reports, the three robbers arrived at the bank in a car. Upon entering, they pointed pistols at the bank staff and threatened to shoot one of the employees unless they handed over the cash from the locker. The incident caused chaos within the bank premises.
Soon after the robbery, SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti arrived at the scene. SP Bhatti confirmed receiving information about the robbery and said the police have launched an investigation. She added that although bank staff were hesitant to confirm the exact amount, initial reports suggest around ₹40 lakh was looted by the robbers.
