Mann government cracks down on corruption
Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann promised the people of Punjab a corruption-free administration. The Mann government has been successful in fulfilling that promise. People can now get their work done in government departments without bribes or recommendations. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann says that corruption is a disease that weakens society and must be eradicated. Now, people no longer fear that someone in a government position might demand money from them, as the hassle of bribes has been completely eliminated. To eradicate corruption and bribery, the Punjab government has adopted a strong and effective "zero tolerance policy."
Chief Minister Mann has made it clear that corruption will not be tolerated at any level in the state, whether it is an administrative officer, a police officer, or a leader of any party. He has also launched the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line (9501200200) to combat corruption. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that corruption is a disease that corrodes society and must be eradicated. This is why the state government has taken several concrete steps to combat corruption, including initiatives such as monitoring officials, the Anti-Corruption Helpline, the Chief Minister's Help Center, and the Chief Minister's Dashboard. The Chief Minister has pledged to continue his government's efforts in this direction until Punjab is corruption-free. Chief Minister Mann stated that this fight will continue until corruption is completely eradicated. Statistics show that the Vigilance Bureau has arrested corrupt individuals through dozens of traps.
As of January 2025, a total of 13,806 complaints, including audio/video recordings, were received on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line. Of these, 8,050 complaints pertained to other departments and were forwarded to those departments for consideration. A total of 917 remaining complaints have been forwarded to the Vigilance Bureau for investigation by various concerned SSPs, Vigilance Bureau Ranges. Of these, 194 complaints have been registered, and a total of 194 accused have been arrested.
Additionally, during the period from March 23, 2022, to November 30, 2024, a total of 778 accused were arrested in 695 different cases registered by the Bureau. During the same period, 89 vigilance cases were disposed of by various courts, 119 accused were sentenced, and 239 vigilance inquiries were registered for further investigation. Furthermore, in May 2025, 52 police officers were dismissed simultaneously. Most of these officers were found guilty/accused in corruption cases. Furthermore, in the year 2025 alone, various corruption cases ranged from 70, sometimes 100, and sometimes around 30, and several people were arrested. (Advertorial)
