Mann government gives grand welcome to Punjab’s World Cup-winning daughters in Mohali

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Government on Friday gave a warm and grand welcome at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Mohali, to cricketers Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, two Punjabi players who were part of the Indian women’s team that created history by winning the country’s first-ever World Cup title in women’s cricket.


Ministers and MLAs Honoured the Daughters of Punjab

On behalf of the Punjab Government, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer reached the airport specially to welcome the champions. They were joined by MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Jaswant Kaur, and Councillor Sarabjit Singh Samana. The atmosphere at the airport was celebratory, as the Punjab Government, district administration, and sports department greeted the returning champions with garlands, flowers, and the lively beats of the dhol.


Government Announces Special Felicitation Ceremony

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had earlier congratulated team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, and Amanjot Kaur through a video call for this historic achievement. Harpal Singh Cheema and Meet Hayer said that these daughters of Punjab have brought glory not only to the state but to the entire nation. They announced that once captain Harmanpreet Kaur returns to Punjab, the state government will organize a special ceremony to honour all three players.
