'Nasha Mukti Yatra': AAP Leaders Conduct Anti-Drug Campaigns in Over 200 Villages, Urge Public to Boycott Traffickers
Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 'Nasha Mukti Yatra' continued across Punjab on Saturday, with AAP MLAs, leaders, and workers spearheading anti-drug campaigns in over 200 villages statewide. Ministers and MLAs, accompanied by their constituency in-charges, local leaders, and workers, visited villages to conduct drug-awareness programs and educate residents about the dangers of drug abuse.
The campaign sparked a wave of enthusiasm among villagers, with thousands of residents voluntarily joining AAP leaders and workers in the anti-drug drive, wholeheartedly supporting the government’s initiative.
During the programs, AAP leaders administered pledges to the attendees, urging them to abstain from drugs, collectively boycotting drug traffickers, and refrain from offering any kind of support to individuals involved in drug trafficking.
Villagers and local sarpanches assured the MLAs and ministers of their full cooperation in eradicating drugs from their communities. They pledged to provide information about drug traffickers to the local police and administration. Additionally, several panchayats declared their villages drug-free during the campaign.
While addressing the media at various locations, AAP leaders held previous governments responsible for the spread of drugs. They accused the Akali-BJP alliance of introducing drugs in Punjab, which led to the destruction of thousands of families. Similarly, they criticized the previous Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh for failing to fulfill its promise of eliminating drugs and instead providing further support to drug traffickers.
AAP leaders claimed that previous governments’ MLAs and ministers openly supported drug traffickers and provided them with political protection. Some ministers and MLAs were even directly involved in the drug trade. However, the AAP government is committed to eradicating drugs from Punjab. National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann have vowed to eliminate drugs from the state. Currently, strict actions are being taken against drug traffickers. They are being sent to jail, and their properties are being demolished. AAP leaders urged the public to support the government’s ongoing crackdown on individuals involved in drug-related activities.
