Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was not just a politician but a statesman: Dr. Subhash Sharma
Pathankot (The Uttam Hindu): Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, a founding member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and a profound thinker, was remembered in Pathankot on his death anniversary, which was observed as Samarpan Diwas. On this occasion, a tribute meeting was organised in which Punjab BJP Vice President Dr. Subhash Sharma participated as the chief speaker. Paying homage to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, he said that Pandit Ji was not merely an ordinary politician, but a true national leader (statesman) whose life and philosophy remain relevant even today.
Dr. Sharma, while shedding light on the life of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, said that his entire life was a reflection of simplicity, honesty, and deep-rooted patriotism. He not only expanded and strengthened the Jana Sangh organisationally across the country, but also provided it with a strong ideological foundation. Dr. Sharma emphasised that the principle of Integral Humanism (Ekatma Manavvad) propounded by Pandit Ji was the core philosophy of the Jana Sangh earlier and is now the guiding ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In his address, Dr. Sharma said that it is to realise Pandit Deendayal Ji’s resolve of Antyodaya that today the BJP-led government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as BJP governments in various states, are continuously engaged in public welfare initiatives. Government policies are inspired by this very thought so that the benefits of development reach the poorest person.
Dr. Subhash Sharma called upon the workers present to imbibe the ideals of Deendayal Ji in their personal lives. He said that adopting simplicity, purity, transparency and honesty in political life would be the true tribute to him. He urged party workers to take a pledge that just as good governance has been established across the country by following the path shown by Pandit Ji, similarly, all workers should work with full dedication to form a BJP government in Punjab as well.
On this occasion, former Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly Mr. Dinesh Babbu, former MLA from Bhoa Seema Kumari, District President Suresh Sharma, former District President Vijay Sharma, Satish Mahajan, and a large number of Bharatiya Janata Party workers and office-bearers were present.
