Professor Zameerpal Kaur Bajwa appointed as Foreign Expert at Beijing Foreign Studies University for 2026–27, set to teach Punjabi, South Asian Studies, and Indian culture in China.

Beijing (The Uttam Hindu): Professor Zameerpal Kaur Sandhu Bajwa, Professor and former Dean, School of Languages, Literature and Culture at the Central University of Punjab, has been appointed as Foreign Expert in South Asian Studies and Punjabi Language at the Beijing Foreign Studies University for the academic session 2026–27.

BFSU, a premier institution under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, is part of China’s prestigious Project 211 and Double First-Class University Plan.

The university currently offers teaching in 101 world languages, and with the introduction of Punjabi, the number will increase to 102. Known as a “Cradle for Diplomats,” BFSU has produced over 400 ambassadors and more than 2,000 counsellors.

During her tenure, Prof Bajwa will teach Punjabi language, literature and folklore, Punjab’s history and culture, Sanskrit poetics and literary theory, and Urdu to students, officials and diplomats. She will also deliver lectures at the School of South Asian Studies.

She will additionally undergo a Chinese language course designed for foreign experts at the university.

Earlier, Prof Bajwa attended the Vasant Mela at the Ambassador’s Residence of the Embassy of India in Beijing on March 14, where she interacted with Indian diplomats and discussed programmes at the Indian Cultural Centre.
