Punjab Announces 3-Day Dry Day; Liquor and Meat Shops Shut Statewide
Punjab (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab will observe a three-day dry day, during which all liquor and meat shops across the state will remain closed. The restrictions will also apply to hotels, restaurants, clubs, and other establishments that serve alcohol. Authorities have issued strict guidelines to ensure complete compliance.
The decision has been taken in view of upcoming religious events. As part of these celebrations, a major Nagar Kirtan has reached Pathankot, drawing large numbers of devotees. Administration and police teams have been deployed to manage crowds and maintain smooth arrangements during the religious procession.
Officials have urged people to cooperate with the temporary restrictions and avoid any violation. The state government has said that the dry day is necessary to maintain the sanctity and order of the religious occasion. Normal operations of liquor and meat shops will resume after the three-day period ends.
