Punjab Government appoints Harsharan Kaur Trehan as Director/Commercial of PSPCL; Assumes charge in Patiala

Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): In a key administrative development, the Punjab Government’s Power Department has appointed Mrs. Harsharan Kaur Trehan as the new Director/Commercial of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). As per the official orders, her appointment will be for a tenure of two years. She formally assumed charge at the PSPCL headquarters in Patiala.

On the occasion, CA S.K. Beri (Director/Finance, PSPCL), Er. Sanjeev Kumar Sood (Director/Technical, PSTCL), and CA Vinod Bansal (Director/Finance, PSTCL) were present to extend their congratulations and best wishes.

Distinguished Career Spanning Over 35 Years

Mrs. Harsharan Kaur Trehan, daughter of Late Sh. Mohinder Singh, former Engineer-in-Chief, brings with her more than 35 years of extensive experience in the power sector. Prior to her retirement in October 2022 as Engineer-in-Chief (Material Management), she was the senior-most officer in PSPCL/PSTCL.

Over the course of her career, she has handled critical assignments in Transmission and Thermal Design, Ropar Thermal Plant, Hydel Design, and the Investment Promotion Cell. She played a pivotal role in the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), particularly in Non-Renewable and Sustainable Energy (NRSE) projects.

During her nearly five-year tenure as Deputy Chief Engineer/Regulation, she made significant contributions to the refinement of the Supply Code, Commercial Regulations, and ESIM framework.

As Chief Engineer/Engineer-in-Chief (Material Management), she efficiently managed procurement operations with an annual budget exceeding ₹1,000 crore, ensuring transparency and accountability. Throughout her distinguished service, her performance record has consistently been rated as “Outstanding.”

After taking charge, Mrs. Trehan expressed her gratitude to the Punjab Government and affirmed her commitment to strengthening the Corporation’s commercial operations while ensuring improved consumer services.
