Punjab government suspends female PCS officer amidst financial irregularities probe
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government has taken major action against Moga's Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Charumita, suspending her from her position. The suspension orders were issued by Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, citing the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970. As part of the suspension, Charumita is required to remain in Chandigarh and will not be allowed to leave without approval from the relevant authority.
According to sources, the suspension is linked to alleged irregularities in financial transactions related to the acquisition of land for National Highway 71, which runs from Dharamkot to Bahadurwala. The Vigilance Bureau has filed a charge sheet against Charumita, a PCS officer, in connection with the scandal. The irregularities came to light after a farmer was denied compensation for his acquired land, prompting him to seek court intervention.
