Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): In a major intelligence-based operation, Amritsar (Rural) Police, with the support of central agencies, arrested Malkit Singh of Pandori, Amritsar. The police recovered a hand grenade, a .30 bore pistol, and 10 live cartridges from his possession.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation on social media platform X, revealing that preliminary investigations linked Malkit Singh directly to UK-based gangster Dharma Sandhu, a close associate of Harvinder Rinda. Rinda, known for his ties to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), operates from Pakistan with the backing of Pakistan’s ISI.

The DGP further stated that investigations are underway to expose the entire network. Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to dismantling the gangster-terrorist nexus and ensuring peace in the state.

Just days earlier, on August 19, Punjab Police’s Counter-Intelligence unit busted a major terror module in Jalandhar, arresting two suspects and recovering a hand grenade. Earlier arrests of two BKI operatives—Ritik Narolia and a juvenile from Rajasthan—led police to nab two more accused, Vishwajeet (from Kolkata, while attempting to flee to Malaysia) and Jackson (from Nakodar). An 86P grenade was recovered during the operation.

The police confirmed they remain vigilant against terror activities, determined to eliminate organized crime and safeguard peace and public safety in Punjab.
