Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan strongly condemned the statement made by Punjab Congress President Raja Warring regarding the sacred service of Ragis and Granthis, demanding that he tender an immediate public apology without any delay.

Sandhwan said that Ragis and Granthis are highly respected people through whom the message and Gurbani of Guru Nanak Patshah reach us, bringing peace and harmony into our lives. He said that this service is a very noble one, which can only be attained through the blessings of the Guru.

He said it is very unfortunate that Punjab Congress President Raja Warring has made the grave mistake of terming this sacred service as a ‘menial service.’ Warring, while seeking forgiveness for one mistake, has committed another major one. Speaker Sandhwan told Raja Warring to immediately seek forgiveness for this.

Responding to Warring’s remarks about the cycle, Speaker Sandhwan said that during the times he was referring to, even a bicycle was owned only by those who were blessed by the Guru; it was something that only a very few people had. He advised the Congress President not to waste time indulging in such petty remarks but instead to talk about the major issues concerning Punjab so that something good can be achieved for the state.
