Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO today said that Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has revealed his casteist (manuwadi) mentality through his derogatory remarks against former Union Home Minister late Sardar Buta Singh.

In a statement issued here, the Cabinet Minister said that the person Raja Warring has mocked as Pathe Paun Wala in his video holds academic qualifications of B.A (Honours), M.A and Ph.D and had worked across various professional fields including journalism before becoming a Member of Parliament in 1962 at the young age of 25.

"Raja Warring’s colour-based comments are a violation of the spirit of the Indian Constitution", said Harbhajan Singh ETO, adding that such remarks expose Warring’s mindset towards the Scheduled Castes of the country.

He further said that the Congress Party has always been anti-Dalit and has a long history of opposing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He reminded that even Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa had once made an insulting remark towards a Dalit legislator by questioning the kind of “material” being brought into the Assembly.

Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the Scheduled Caste community of India will forever remain indebted to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who granted them the right to equality through the Constitution, otherwise leaders like Raja Warring would never have allowed Dalits to rise and progress.
