Rajesh Prasad Appointed as Chandigarh’s New Chief Secretary; Previously Served in Jammu & Kashmir
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Senior IAS officer H. Rajesh Prasad has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Chandigarh. He previously served in the same capacity in Jammu & Kashmir. Rajesh Prasad succeeds Rajeev Verma, an AFMUT cadre officer of the 1992 batch.
Rajeev Verma was recently transferred to Delhi. The official transfer order was issued on Sunday, followed by a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at 4:30 PM. On the same day, the central government appointed him as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Rajeev Verma had been appointed as an advisor in the Chandigarh administration in January 2024, and shortly after, became the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh. He is expected to retire next year. With H. Rajesh Prasad’s appointment, a new administrative chapter begins in the Chandigarh administration.
