Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu) : A student in Punjab's Ludhiana district tragically died after being strangled by a banned Chinese string. The accident occurred on Saturday in the Samrala area while the student was returning home from school with his cousin.

The deceased has been identified as Taranjot Singh, a resident of Raule village. According to police, Taranjot was returning from his pre-board exams on a motorcycle with his uncle's son, Prabhjot Singh. Shortly after leaving school at around 2 p.m., a Chinese string suddenly appeared on the road near the Samrala bypass, tangling Taranjot in his throat. This severely cut his throat.

Following the accident, both young men, along with their motorcycle, fell onto the road. With the help of locals, the injured student was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he later died during treatment. Following the incident, the deceased's family and villagers were deeply angered. The angry protesters staged a sit-in on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh National Highway, shouting slogans against the administration. The protesters alleged that Chinese wire was being sold openly in the Samrala area, but the administration was failing to take effective action.

The family members say that if strict action had been taken against the sale of banned twine in time, this tragedy could have been avoided. They have demanded strict action against the culprits and a special campaign against Chinese twine in the area. Police officials stated that the matter is being investigated and action will be taken against those involved in the sale and supply of banned Chinese twine. The untimely death of Taranjot, who recently celebrated his birthday on December 13th, has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village.
