Young Woman Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances at Jalandhar’s Gandhi Vanita Ashram; DC Orders Inquiry

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic incident occurred late Friday night at Gandhi Vanita Ashram in Jalandhar, where a young female inmate died under suspicious circumstances. According to officials, the woman was found unconscious on the washroom floor. As soon as the incident came to light, the ashram staff panicked and rushed her to a nearby nursing home. Considering her critical condition, she was referred to Jalandhar Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead after examination.

Given the seriousness of the incident, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal immediately ordered an inquiry on Saturday. The DC has directed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a comprehensive report within two weeks. The district administration has assured that the probe will be fair, transparent, and thorough, ensuring that the exact cause of death is determined and any negligence, if found, is acted upon.

The administration has informed the family of the deceased about the incident so that required formalities can be completed. A medical board has been formed to carry out the post-mortem and establish the precise cause of death. Additionally, forensic experts and police teams have begun collecting evidence from the ashram and are following all medico-legal procedures as part of the investigation.
