Dubai (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab's Lion Abhishek Sharma, who wreaked havoc with his bat in the Asia Cup 2025, has now created history in the ICC T20 rankings, something no other batsman in the world has achieved to date. In the new rankings released immediately after the Asia Cup, Abhishek not only retained his number-1 position, but also created a world record by achieving the highest rating (926) in T20 cricket history.

In the latest ICC rankings, Abhishek Sharma holds the top spot with a historic rating of 926. Previously, the world record for the highest rating was held by England's Dawid Malan, who achieved 919 rating points. Abhishek has now surpassed him. During the Asia Cup, his rating reached 931 at one point, a dream for any batsman.

The incredible form Abhishek Sharma is in right now can be gauged from the fact that England's Phil Salt, who is ranked second, has a rating of just 844. The massive 82-point difference between the two is enough to indicate that Abhishek's position is completely secure for now.

Tilak Varma, who played a match-winning innings of 69 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, has also gained in the rankings. He is now the world's No. 3 batsman with a rating of 819. Meanwhile, India's T20 captain and former No. 1 batsman Suryakumar Yadav's poor form is impacting his ranking. Surya has dropped two places to No. 8, with his rating now at 698.

Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka has gained two places to reach number 5 after scoring a century against India, while Australia's Travis Head has slipped one place to number six.
