New York (The Uttam Hindu): Novak Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open semi-finals, after which the Serbian player dismissed speculation of retirement. Djokovic has confirmed that he wants to play a full Grand Slam season next year. The 22-year-old Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz defeated the 38-year-old Serbian player 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to enter his seventh and second major final in New York.

In this thrilling match that lasted about 2 hours and 25 minutes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Carlos Alcaraz avenged his defeat to Djokovic at this year’s Australian Open and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Serbian player Novak Djokovic said, I still want to play Grand Slams. I want to play the entire Grand Slam season next year. Let's see if that happens or not. But Slams are Slams. They are different from any other tournament. These are the pillars of our game. These are our most important tournaments.

Novak Djokovic said, I am happy with my level of tennis, but it is a matter of physical ability. As I said in the press conference after the quarter-finals, I would try my best to prepare my body to maintain this level and rhythm for many hours, but it was not enough. At this stage of my career, this is something I do not have control over.

Novak Djokovic, who has won 100 tour-level titles, admitted it is frustrating when he cannot maintain his level physically but said it is expected at his age.

Djokovic said, it comes with time and age. I still feel the thrill of competition. There was a lot of support from the audience in this match. I am very grateful for this. I enjoyed the game a lot. This is a big reason why I keep playing. The love I have received from all over the world in the last few years is amazing. Carlos Alcaraz is on his way to his sixth Grand Slam title and return to No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings.
