Ashok Jain Memorial Badminton Championship ends with prize ceremony at LPU

Phagwara (The Uttam Hindu): The Shri Ashok Jain Memorial Kapurthala District Badminton Championship concluded successfully with a prize distribution ceremony held at Lovely Professional University on February 1, 2026. The tournament was organised in memory of the late Shri Ashok Jain, in recognition of his valuable contribution to the promotion and development of badminton in Kapurthala district.

Shri Ritin Khanna, Secretary of the Punjab Badminton Association, attended the event as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Shri Satpal Kalucha, Shri Rajinder Shangari, State In-charge of Bharat Swabhiman along with his wife, and Shri Saurabh Lakhanpal, Executive Dean of Lovely Professional University.

Officials from the Punjab Badminton Association, including Shri Chitranjan Bansal, Events Secretary, and Shri Dheeraj Sharma, Joint Secretary, were also present. The Kapurthala District Badminton Association was represented by its President Shri Rohit Jain, Secretary Shri Malkiyat Singh Ragbotra, Vice President Shri Gagandeep Singh, along with other office bearers and members.

Chief guest Shri Ritin Khanna presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up. He lauded the organisers for the smooth conduct of the tournament and paid tribute to the late Shri Ashok Jain for his dedication to the sport. He also appreciated the high level of competition and encouraged players to continue striving for excellence.

The event concluded with a spirit of sportsmanship, discipline and enthusiasm among players and organisers.
