New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The family of former Indian Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has been plunged into grief. His wife's brother, Jeet Pabari, has committed suicide. After finding him hanging from a noose in his Rajkot home, family and neighbors rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police have investigated the scene, although no suicide note was found. Currently, the case has been registered as a suicide and further investigation is underway. According to sources, in November 2024, Jeet Pabari's former fiancée filed serious allegations of rape, assault, and threats against him. The complaint stated that after their engagement, Jeet had deceitfully entered into a physical relationship with her and then abruptly broke off the relationship and married someone else. It was also alleged that attempts were made to pressure the girl by using Pujara's name.

Following these allegations, Jeet Pabari was under significant mental stress and had reportedly been suffering from depression for some time. At the time of the incident, Cheteshwar Pujara was commentating during the India-South Africa Test series. The family is in mourning after receiving the news, and no family member has yet commented on the matter.

Rajkot police say no suicide note was found at the scene. The body has been sent for a postmortem. The exact cause of death will be determined after the medical report. All aspects related to the allegations and family dispute will be investigated.
