Haryana athletes shine at World Boxing Cup: Nupur Sheoran wins gold; Neeraj and Naveen bag bronze

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Haryana athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the World Boxing Cup held in NCR Noida, winning one gold and two bronze medals. Nupur Sheoran claimed the gold medal, while Naveen Jhanjhadia and Neeraj Phogat secured bronze. Their achievements were appreciated by Charkhi Dadri MLA Sunil Sangwan and Badhra MLA Umed Patuwas, who congratulated the athletes and wished them a bright future.

According to the information, Nupur Sheoran from the village of Umarwas won the gold medal in the 80+ kg category with an impressive performance. She defeated her opponent from Uzbekistan by a 3-2 margin. Earlier in September, she had also won a silver medal at the World Boxing Championship. Nupur comes from a family with a strong sporting legacy, her grandfather Hawa Singh Sheoran was an Asian Games gold medalist and a recipient of the Dronacharya Award.

Similarly, Naveen Jhanjhadia from village Ghikara, who works as a beldar in the Forest Department, and Neeraj Phogat from village Jhinjhar, also showcased remarkable performances to win bronze medals. The MLAs from Dadri and Badhra said that athletes from the Dadri district are consistently bringing pride to the nation through their hard work and talent. They also spoke to the families of the medal winners and extended their best wishes for the athletes’ future achievements.
