India Dominates West Indies in Ahmedabad Test, 5 Wickets Away from Victory

Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): India has taken a strong hold in the ongoing first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium. On the third day of the match, after declaring their first innings at 448/5, Team India is just 5 wickets away from victory by lunch. In the first session of Day 3, West Indies scored only 66/5 in 27 overs. India currently holds a commanding lead of 220 runs based on the first innings.

West Indies had a poor start in their second innings as well, losing Chandrapaul Taggarin for 8 runs when the team score was just 12. John Campbell scored 14, Brandon King managed only 5, while captain Roston Chase and Shai Hope got out for 1 run each.

By lunch, the visitors had lost 5 wickets for 46 runs. Alex Athanaze and Justin Greaves tried to stabilize the innings, scoring 27 and 10 runs, respectively. From India’s side, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav claimed 1 wicket each.


Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies were bowled out for 162 runs in their first innings. Justin Greaves top-scored for the visitors with 32, while Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah took 4 and 3 wickets respectively for India.

In reply, India scored 448/5, with KL Rahul (100), Dhruv Jurel (125), and Ravindra Jadeja (104)* playing centuries. India declared their innings on Day 3, and West Indies came out to bat for the first over of the day. The two-match Test series between India and West Indies continues with the next match in Delhi starting 10 October 2025.
