Indian Women's Team in Great Form, All Eyes on ODI Series against England

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The first match of the ODI series is to be played between the women's teams of India and England in Southampton. Team India recently won the T20 series 3-2 against host England. In such a situation, the morale of the visiting team will be high.

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup will begin from 30 September 2025 under the hosting of India. Some of its matches are also to be played in Sri Lanka. This ODI series between India and England is also being linked to the preparations for the World Cup.

India has played eight ODIs this year, winning seven of them. Team India clean swept the ODI series against Ireland 3-0 in January, after which it won the triangular series played with Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Now if the Indian women's team also wins the ODI series against England, its morale will increase before the World Cup.

Young opener Pratika Rawal has once again been included in the team, giving preference to experienced Shefali Verma. Pratika has completed the fastest 500 runs in women's ODIs with an impressive performance in the triangular series.

The team's batting looks strong in the presence of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemima Rodriguez, Harleen Deol and Richa Ghosh. At the same time, Sneha Rana, Shri Charani, Kranti Gaud and Arundhati Reddy have the ability to snatch the match from the opposition team.

Nat Sciver-Brunt has returned to the England camp after recovering from injury, she is the captain of the team. At the same time, top ODI bowler Sophie Ecclestone has returned to the team after recovering from a knee injury.

A total of 76 ODI matches have been played between the women's teams of India and England since 1978, in which England won 40 matches. Whereas, India won 34 matches. Two matches were inconclusive.
