Indian Women's Cricket Team Makes History: Defeated England by 6 Wickets, Clinch T20 Series 3-1

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian women's cricket team won the fourth T20 match against England by six wickets. With this, India has created history on England's soil. For the first time, the Indian women's team has won a T20 series of two or more matches against England in their home.

India played T20 cricket for the first time in England in the year 2006. During this period, only one T20 match was played, in which India won by eight wickets. This match of the five-match T20 series between India-England women's teams was played in Manchester, in which England won the toss and decided to bat first.

England had to pay heavily for their own decision. The team lost the wicket of Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (5) at a score of 21. After this, the team lost wickets at regular intervals. The host team could score only 126 runs by losing seven wickets till the stipulated overs. For this team, Sophia Dunkley scored the highest 22 runs in 19 balls, while captain Tammy Beaumont scored 20 runs in 19 balls.

For India, Shri Charani and Radha Yadav took two wickets each, while Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma took one wicket each. In reply, the Indian team won the match with three overs to spare. Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma shared a 56-run partnership in seven overs. Shefali scored 31 runs in 19 balls, while Mandhana scored 32 runs in 31 balls for the team.

India had lost its opening pair at the score of 69. From here, Jemima Rodriguez along with captain Harmanpreet Kaur added 48 runs for the third wicket and brought the team to the threshold of victory.

Harmanpreet Kaur scored 26 runs in 25 balls, which included three fours, while Jemima scored an unbeaten 24 runs in 22 balls. For England, Charlotte Dean, Sophie Ecclestone and EC Wong took one wicket each. India has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The last match of the series will be played at Edgbaston on July 12.
