India's Stunning Performance: 1st Test Win Against West Indies by An Innings and 140 Runs

Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): India secured victory on the third day of the Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies. India won the match by an innings and 140 runs. With this, the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

West Indies, who won the toss and opted to bat, could only manage 162 runs in their first innings. Justin Greaves top-scored for the visitors with a 48-ball 32. For India, Mohammed Siraj took four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah took three.

In response, India declared their first innings at 448/5. Opener KL Rahul top-scored for the hosts with a 100. Dhruv Jurel also made 125, while Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104. Captain Shubman Gill contributed 50 runs for India.

For the West Indies, captain Roston Chase took two wickets in this innings, while Jayden Seales, Jomel Warrican, and Khary Pierre each took one wicket. The West Indies failed to learn from their previous mistakes in their second innings, collapsing to just 146 runs.

West Indies once again had a dismal start to their innings. They lost Tagenarine Chanderpaul (8) for 12 runs. From there, the wickets began to fall.

Meanwhile, Alick Athanaze tried to revive the innings, scoring 38 runs off 74 balls with the help of three fours, but his efforts were in vain. Besides Alick, Justin Greaves made 25 and Jayden Seales made 22.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets for 54 runs, while Mohammed Siraj took three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also took two wickets. The final match of the two-Test series between India and the West Indies will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10.
